NURSERY
Nature is amazing! I spotted these absolutely perfect tiny egg cells on a brick on my porch. The ruler gives you an idea of their size - it shows 1/4 inch from right to left, and is even less tall, so each cell is less than 1/16th of an inch around. Each cell appears to be a tiny wax cup - totally even, perfectly round and all identical. I wish I knew what kind of insect created this 'nursery'. Each cell has something inside - I'm guessing it's some kind of developing larva. I'll keep an eye on it and hope to catch either someone tending it or the babies when they hatch. Since I've started blipping, I've become so impressed with the incredible abilities of insects - little bugs we swatted or sprayed and considered as pests (although my admiration doesn't extend to mosquitos!) Bee hives, wasp nests, etc. are all so incredibly precise - it is amazing! I'm afraid some spider or other predator will clean out these cell before they can hatch. We'll see....
