Edgy
I knew I wanted to play around with the squash I collected yesterday - specifically, I wanted to try some extreme lighting to create a lot of contrast in the image. So, I set up my little soft box and put two external lights aiming at it from the left, creating deep shadows on the right of the little squash. I decided to convert to mono because I think it adds to the edgy feel of the image. A more dedicated photographer would have stacked several images to get better focus on the stem...oh, well. If you want to see what the actual squash looks like, see Extra for the color version - it's like a miniature pumpkin, measuring only about 2 inches side-to-side. Jax showed an undo amount of interest in it and I'm quite certain he'd have grabbed it if I had turned my back. He loves winter squash.
We are finally getting rain - hallelujah! It started raining last night and has remained drippy all day. Not the hard rain we could really use, but enough to drench the top few inches of the soil at least. And it is supposed to continue overnight, possibly changing over to snow at some point. Maybe I will get a chance to brush up on my snow-skills with the birds tomorrow.
Hubs and I watched "The Help" last night which was very good. I want to read the book now, as I think I would probably love it. I'll have to put it on my Kindle reading list.
