De-icing
Well, the snow didn't settle on the ground, but there was plenty on other surfaces. The plane was delayed for half an hour while they de-iced it, but it made up a lot of the time in the air, so it was barely late landing. Due to using S's seating and baggage strategy, I was last on, among the first off, and then whizzed through the EU immigration line while the Brits queued up to get their passports stamped.
We'd cleared out virtually all the food in the house before leaving, so I stopped off at Picard for some instant food and other supplies. I've been spoiled by the Waitrose ready meal we had -- this one met my diet criteria, but was very inferior. I'll need to go shopping for some real food tomorrow.
The house was chilly, so I got a fire going as fast as I could. S phoned to report on his mum. If all goes to plan she'll be discharged to her care home tomorrow. While it was disappointing to miss Cuba, I'm really glad now that we didn't go, and have been able to spend time with her. After this I felt I needed some fresh air after being cooped up all day, so I went for a short walk, easily collecting enough pine cones to light the fire for a couple of weeks.
Now for a quiet night in by the fire.
