Devil’s Corner
Now, bottles of wine make very regular appearances in our house, but this is the first bottle of Tasmanian wine to ever be seen here. When we spent Christmas in Tasmania four years ago we discovered many excellent wines grown on this beautiful island. We even fell in love with Tasmanian Pinot Noir - a wine that we’d always found a little thin and insipid (apologies to all you Pinot Noir lovers our there - it’s just that we go for much brasher reds!)
So when I discovered this bottle of Devil’s Corner Pinot Noir in Tesco, I just had to buy it. But sadly, as is often the case, the wine is not as we remember it. Maybe it’s the scenery or the season; maybe it’s just the fact it’s travelled half way round the world - but there again, New Zealand Sauvignons do pretty well.
It’s definitely something you don’t see every day in our house - and, sadly, I don’t think it will be making any further appearances!
