Community Project: Day 2

Tony and I spent much of the morning pressing some of the Bramley apples to see if the juice was drinkable.  I readied myself for it being too tart when we poured out the first pressing, but it was surprisingly pleasant and its colour was much closer to the green of the apple skin.  Tony had noted some time ago that Bramley Apple Juice was for sale in a cafe we visited so it was worth having a go as we have plenty of apples.  The remainder of them will go into the beetroot chutney Tony will make tomorrow.  That's a lot of chopping.....

After lunch we went up to the Drying Ground to clear the wall to the right of the entrance of brambles.  Neighbour Edward turned out to join us and we spent three hours in the bramble patch and on the roadside clearing those brambles which had taken hold at the foot of the wall.  This is by far the toughest part of the plot we need to clear with the brambles being the thickness of a finger in many places and there being a tangle of them which reminded me of the children's fairytale, Sleeping Beauty.

So my blip is a record of how the ground looks after two days of work.  See yesterday's blip for how it looked before.
