Canal reflections
After checking out of the hotel we spent a very pleasant hour or so walking along the canal towpath from Gas Street Basin, admiring the juxtaposition of the old and new. Before returning to the van we had coffee and watched the world go by at Ciara, an Italian café by the canal. We would have liked to explore further, but time was restricted as MrM was playing at a ceilidh this evening. Another time, perhaps.
Then time to drive back home, again by a scenic route, stopping in Ashbourne for lunch and a quick wander round to stretch our legs. Further north we drove through Winnats Pass (extra shows view through the windscreen), a limestone gorge in the Peak District. We've driven through it several times recently, and it never fails to impress! By then the weather was deteriorating, and we arrived back home to drizzle.
