Grubbing About
After a morning spent mainly working on locks (replacing), I took a daunder up to the woods at Sheriffmuir, and grubbed about a bit. There's some fascinating stuff in the woods, if you literally get down and dirty. Main is a pic of the underpart of a bracket fungus. What it's up to is beyond my ken.
It was a lovely afternoon, and heard the scream of the Merlin (as reported by the Merlin app) and watched some very young deer prancing between the distant trees, in the sunshine. Very pleasant.
On the way back, passing the gathering stone, I noticed there was a gathering (extra). So I had to stop, have a listen, and take a couple of shots. Presumably there to commemorate the Battle of Sheriffmuir, 13 Nov 1715. Quite a moving sight from afar, but a bit of a motley crew close up, truth be told. Probably the same as the original 'gatherers', no doubt.
A lot of blood shed at that battle, with little real outcome or advantage for either side.
