Whitelee
The forecast wasn't too bad today so after the gym for me and meeting pal M for breakfast for P, we drove round the back of East Kilbride to explore Whitelee Windfarm. It's the largest onshore windfarm with over 250 turbines. It's really quite something to see and a great spot for it - it's on moorland, but not particularly attractive moorland, it's far enough from any towns, but still near enough to Glasgow and EK to be useful and it generates a heck of a lot of power.
The site has a pretty good visitors centre which runs free bus trips around the site too. You can get pretty close to the turbines, it's rather hypnotic standing underneath one and watching the blade swoosh by. The site is huge - the blip gives you an idea of how far it goes back. Would be great to explore on the bikes.
We could see the rain coming in when we got to the viewpoint so headed back to the visitors centre, cutting short out walk. It was still good to get out and have a wee explore. Ooo and there were Ravens too. Picked up some squirty cream on the way home to go with some hot chocolate. Pretty good.
