The Chapels of Rest in Stroud cemetery

We, the trustees of Stroud Preservation Trust, are finalising the transfer of this building to us from Stroud District Council so that we can try to find a secure future usage whilst also dealing with its many structural issues. Before the lease can be signed we need a full condition survey which is underway. Today I photographed all the details of the exterior of the building while the sun shone, working with my colleague Val K. who was noting all the observable issues that I was photographing. You might just be able to see her through the central archway.

It took about three hours and we have to return in a couple of days to do the same process to the interior. We hope to have a small celebratory event for the local community when the 7 year lease is signed, as we hope the building can be of service to the local community in one way or another in the future.
