This morning, Mrs C had a 7am appointment for bloods to be taken at the doctor’s, followed by an 8am appointment at the garage to have two new tyres fitted.
I say “had” because when the confirmation message popped up on the NHS app, it transpired that the bloods appointment had been at 8am all along. Which presented her with a bit of a dilemma. The car had already been booked in online, and she knew that there were no other slots available today.
So it looked like my planned lie in was definitely not going to happen. I did volunteer to put on a wig and a frock and go and give the doctor a bit of blood, but it was felt it would be more helpful if I took the car for tyres.
Though I can’t help but feel that I got the short end of the stick. Mrs C (minus a few CCs of blood) was back home by 8.30. I didn’t get back until 10.30. And, to add insult to injury, I ended up paying for her new tyres as I only had my bank cards with me!
Couldn’t even have a rest when I got back as I was due at Stuart’s at midday to do some recording. He had done a bass line for our latest number (so that the AI drum programme had something to follow), but now wanted to replace it with me playing through my amp. In due course the AI drummer will also be replaced with a real drummer. Great fun learning the riffs and then recording them. A little bit of cheating went on as the riffs repeat throughout the song, so Stu recorded them once and then - after a bit of twiddling - did a “copy and paste” exercise throughout the track.
He will send me a rough mix with my bass plus vocals, drums and lead guitar on it so I can practice playing along. My bit could then be re-recorded once I’m more familiar with the number.
Got to admit though, it definitely felt better driving home with the new tyres on, especially in today’s cold and damp conditions.
