Memorable
It wasn't a generally memorable day, but the event this evening was. A "conversation" involving the same former colleague with whom I had a "conversation" last year (see extra to this blip) followed by a big dinner in the Raeburn Room. The round the table was not too painful, but the birthday celebrations were quite fun. The former colleague goes 90 in a couple of days. He's doing astonishingly well. Mary McAleese, the principal guest, had an absolutely huge fund of stories to draw upon, including a couple surrounding the the few words that the Queen spoke in Irish on the occasion of her state visit to Ireland. That was pretty memorable too.
Otherwise, as mentioned, a not terribly memorable day with minor progress on a number of fronts. My diary and my notes will tell the story.
