Mini blipmeet
After a fabulous sleep we had some breakfast and headed off to catch the train to Winchester. I’d arranged to meet up with Redflash for a few hours. Many moons ago we worked together in Edinburgh and kept in touch through social
Media. She gave me the impetus to join the blip community and it was too good an opportunity to pass up a chance to catch up.
She took us on a circular tour of Winchester pointing out the many wonderful sights and was a font of knowledge about the history of everywhere we walked past.
Really enjoyed listening to a fabulous young chap busking near the most wonderful chocolate shop, Montezumas which gave us a free bar of caramel nutty chicory with our purchases.
As W is a volunteer at the Cathederal we were allowed to peer in at the stained glass windows which are a delightful mishmash of pieces salvaged from the English civil war and remade by the townsfolk years later.
My blip is of a kneeling cushion I spotted in St Swithun upon Kingsgate church. The design is beautifully simple but beautifully executed..thanks to loisbiz for hosting.
We really enjoyed our tour and lunch in a delightful coffee shop. Thank you so much to W for taking the time to show us her city.
We had time to relax a bit and talk through what we wanted to see when we arrive in New York and have booked ourselves into a tour of the United Nations building which should hopefully be interesting. Security screening apparently takes an hour so I guess it’s pretty thorough. Watch this space.
Wandered out for some dinner and found a Thai street food restaurant and I’m so full I’ve had to put my PJs on immediately on getting back to the hotel. Clocked up another 17000 steps today!
