Another Day, another Sunrise

I was back down to earth with a bump today: the excitement over for another year apart from claiming my free birthday Costa cake. As my Granddaughter in Oman told me yesterday, nothing tastes quite as nice as a free cake. To claim it I had to make a detour into town to Castle street where I chose a slice of Billionaire’s shortbread which was slightly dearer than the common Millionaire’s variety- no point in going cheap. After all the rubbish I ate yesterday this cake was a step too far but it did go down a treat with my coffee.

One of the floor lamps malfunctioned yesterday and after taking it apart I trudged with the bulb, an original Ikea one of 14 summers standing, to Cotterrell’s to have it checked to see if it was the bulb at fault. It glowed perfectly there like the grand old bulb it is, so back I went to the house to check all the lamp’s connection. I wiggled the plug and the wire and screwed the bulb back in and lo and behold it lit up. Had it been human you could have expected it to say- just joking!

It’s been a really glorious autumn day - sun, no wind and mild too. The only problem being the motes of dust doing a jive in the sunlight pouring through the south facing windows. The vacuum and duster have been out to do duty and I expect order will be restored when the sun starts setting and the motes get fed up with their activity.

Thank you for all your lovely Birthday wishes yesterday. They made it worthwhile for the adding to the tally of years.
