Phantom of the Opera

Photo: rain drops are falling…it looks as if our long  dry spell is over.

I persuaded M to join me to see the Phantom of the Opera
the live streamed from the Royal Albert Hall to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
It’s a sumptuous production with over 200 cast but the best bit is at the end when Andrew Lloyd Weber comes on and introduces the original cast from twenty -five years ago.
What did I think of it? Well, I am no judge of musicals, and this has had worldwide popular and financial success, but I don’t feel I have missed anything.
As a cultural musical  icon of the 20th century, its spectacular and can’t fail to impress.

I have a complaint though, others who attended the performance agree too. It’s the noise level. This was designed for the Royal Albert Hall which holds 5,500 while the Filmhouse  at the Macrobert Arts centre seats 472 people.

Enough said. Next time take earplugs.
