No Peace & Quiet

I sat down for half an hour for a coffee and to read my Cormack McCarthy novel on the Kindle only to be rudely interrupted by the church bells sounding off every fifteen minutes. Strangely, church bells play a large part in McCarthy's novels but 36 chimes every quarter of an hour is a bit much and breaks the mood and concentration. Perhaps the Catholic God is deaf!
