Te Kopuke
Named Mount Saint John by settlers in 1840, Te Kopuke is a well preserved scoria cone. It produced the longest lava flow in the Auckland field.. In 1872 four hectares around the summit were declared an Educational Reserve. In 1896 it was vested in the Crown as a Public Recreational Ground. And in 1978 Te Kopuke was gazetted for protection as a Redreation Reserve and an Historic Place. A successful Pa was established on Te Kopuke in pre-European time.
