Hornby Lighthouse
Hornby Lighthouse was built in 1858, adjacent to the South Head entrance to Sydney Harbour. The disastrous wreck of The Dunbar (previous year) was largely blamed on the absence of a light at that critical location. It is a heritage listed site because it was only the third lighthouse ever to have been built for the NSW colony. It is still in use today although operation is completely automated.
