Figsbury Ring

A day off work today and went to Salisbury to see the Rex Whistler exhibition at the museum. On the way back stopped at Figsbury Ring. I have been past it countless times, but it was only today I discovered what a beautiful place it is. There was a rabbit lying in the sun under the gate when we arrived and others lolloping around. The Ring itself has a double fortification of earthworks and is full of grasses, wildflowers (scabious, knapweed, ragwort, harebells, daisies), moths (more burnets) and butterflies. Also, these lovely cattle. The spire in the distance is Salisbury Cathedral - obviously.

Anyway, I've used black and white because I hoped it gave it a look of James Ravilious's photos - well you can dream..
