Hallowe'en / The Dirt

It's been a long time since I've been on Facebook, but from time to time I have to concede that it has its uses. This morning, for example, one of the chaps on the square posted that a couple of the children would be trick or treating later, and asked who was happy to have them knock on their door.

In anticipation of that, the Minx rustled up this monster from a bread basket, and, once the sun was down, lined the drive with candles.

Our visitors must be around three years old, I guess, and both were a little shy at first, and slightly nervous of the Minx's creation, especially as the jaw actually went up and down! But they departed happily with little packets of sweets for their goodie bags.

After that, we went into town for a bite to eat at Evuna on Thomas Street and a quick pre-gig drink before heading to Night and Day to see The Dirt.

The streets were full of people in fancy dress for Hallowe'en, and, for whatever reason, the Scooby Doo Gang is very popular this year. And when we arrived at the venue, we found that even the support act, Dead Stilettos, had joined in, dressing up as Devo (see Extra).

The Dirt consists of Jack - who also performs as Leon The Pig Farmer - on spoken/shouted word, and his partner, Sachiko, on electric guitar. I must say that she rather swung the performance for me, both in terms of her playing, shades of The Fall combined with Philip Glass, and the sounds she was getting out of her pedal board. I was very envious!
