Happy Hallowe'en
Work was incredibly busy today. My team were going to go out for a team breakfast, but instead we all went to the canteen for twenty minutes and enjoyed breakfast rolls. There was a very good turn out in the office today, as it was the last day for one of our colleagues – he is retiring, early retirement in fact.
At lunchtime I had to pop out and spend some of the money we had collected for him on a book voucher. I had already spent some of it on a bottle of whisky, and another colleague had organised a restaurant voucher and a few other things – he was a very popular colleague, as evidenced by the amount of money contributed by colleagues. After a very busy afternoon, in which our retiring colleague was also working hard, trying to finish something off. We broke for the speeches and the handover of gifts. Folks then headed off for drinks, however a colleague and I couldn’t go until we had caught up on an urgent piece of work. We then joined them all in the pub.
It was lovely to see so many colleague there, and I definitely didn’t catch up with everyone I wanted to, as a subset of us were going on for dinner. We had a lovely evening, and all too soon, I was on the last bus hoe again. I can’t quite believe that my lovely colleague has retired. We work very closely, and it will hit me next week when he is not in the office, as he always works in the office.
I spotted this pumpkin when I was out at lunchtime. Happy Hallowe’en!
