Make Hay while the Sun Shines
I was out and about this morning when I spotted a large field of blue on the outskirts of the village, so I managed to pull over to get a shot of it. After a bit of research I discovered it was a field of borage. I had intended to use it as my blip but when I looked at the photo it really didn't do it justice, as it was quite an amazing sight. I didn't know that farmers planted borage as a crop but with further research I found out that it can be farmed for it's seed oil, which is extremely good for us apparently. Around the edge of the crop there were some bee hives and I'm not surprised as the bees were going mad for the flowers but I suddenly became aware of a loud buzzing around my head - I was being investigated by at least one extremely persistent bee. I'm not frightened of bees but I felt it might be prudent to leave the field now, so I started to walk back to the car and the bee followed me, buzzing very close around my head and face. I walked faster and the bee followed - it was like something out of Benny Hill as we got faster and faster, makes me laugh to think about it now. He pursued me all the way back to the car but he let me get inside unharmed - I had no Idea bees were so possessive of their flowers!!
The shot I went with in the end, as my blip was the view across the fields on the other side of the road to the guard-bees, taken before I was shooed away by them ;-))
