Hallowe'en
THURSDAY
A mild 15ºC and sunny day—a perfect October end for Hallowe'en.
This morning, I put up the decorations: bats on the front window (see extra), a pumpkin garland over the fireplace, lights on the tree outside, candles in jars along the front steps, a scary mask on the porch light, and an oil burner inside the pumpkin. All set for tonight.
In the afternoon, I headed to Rhyl for a cappuccino at the 1891 bar, followed by a walk along the seafront. I stopped by the bowling green and wandered into the town centre. Being half-term, it was busier than a usual weekday.
Later, we took another walk around the village. Plenty of houses had Hallowe'en decorations up, giving everything a seasonal feel.
At 6:00 pm, the village community group hosted a get-together at the old telephone box. It was a great turnout—around 50–60 people, including a several witches and other scary characters. Prosecco and soft drinks were provided.
Like most of the group I walked up to the village pub, which had laid on food for the evening.
The decorations did a good job in attracting local children for the traditional "trick or treat". They quickly cleared out our bowl of goodies.
