Lake Hayes track …..

….. ….. ….. still under water.

I took more kale from my veg garden in to Soulfood this morning, probably my last delivery this season. The kale is seriously going to seed now. So many people want to access it there and yet very few in the Village are interested. It seems to be age-related. It’s the younger generation who are wanting it.

Missy & I walked around Lake Hayes this afternoon, and made our way through the flooding okay. My shoes only got slightly wet; the goretex waterproof layer really worked. It didn’t worry Missy - she loves getting her feet wet anyway.

A documentary from David Lomax was shown in the cinema late afternoon, about Alista Hall, the disabled Paralympian skier who spoke to us at the Village recently, together with her husband Adam Hall. It was incredibly moving, about her disabilities at birth, five years in a Bulgarian orphanage before being adopted by a wonderful American couple, and her subsequent life here in New Zealand. If anyone has overcome adversity with flying colours it’s Adam & Alista Hall.
