Looking for . . .

. . . and finding . . . otters.

The forecast for today was for rain on and off all day so we decided to stay here. Plenty to do, including carving a pumpkin for us to put outside. Ella designed and drew it for her grandad to cut out. In the end she did it all expertly herself. It might get blipped later.

Then we took a chance on going into Appleby for lunch. The cafe was very busy but we were soon served. Then it looked brighter so we walked from the cafe to the river and followed the riverside path. The water was very high and fast-running, no wonder the ducks were staying on the bank. It was bright and warm and lovely for walking.

We had been told there were otters in the river - a family of them. So we had hopes of a sighting. It was the two girls who spotted one - in and out of the water. Great to see.

Lots of help making pizzas tonight.
