Prague

We get back to the Drmoul pub for 11. Various folk are already there. Alice is on good form. Even Moz is OK. Eventually we order lunch - goulash with dumplings for me; some incredible cheese and jalapeño nuggets for Meg.

We pile into John and Marketta's car, along with Tony Rose, and set off for Prague. The guests on either side of the motorway look glorious. Megan snoozes. Tony and I remember old acquaintances.

The metro takes us to Flora and Tony leads us to the Olšanka hotel on his way home. We check in and then take the tram into the city centre as dusk gathers. As expected, the place is mobbed. We wander the river and the old town until night has established itself and it's time to head to the restaurant [extras].

We're the first to arrive, taking a place at the bar with a dark Kostel. The party assembles in waves, gradually taking over three tables in the back room. This time, Megan gets a reasonable cheese and red cabbage meal. I go for hare, which comes in a rich vegetable sauce with a pile of mashed potatoes.

Natasha and Gregor play with chocolate models of their parents (from the birthday cake). They dismantle them (eating heads and limbs) and then build a grisly scene of body parts and toothpicks.

Finally Alice and Gregor take us outside to admire the futuristic Žižkovská tower [extra] in garish blues and reds - with steel babies clinging to it. Started in the 80s, it now houses a restaurant and a couple of hotel rooms.

Have I Got News For You and then sleep.
