Southend Highland Games

A "holiday" back-blip from last Saturday when we attended the Southend Highland Games, which are held in the evening. The weather was glorious and the warm evening sunshine cast a lovely light on the participants.

My intention was to take a number of action shots of the various races and heavy disciplines, but as so often at these events the public were kept at a distance (probably for good reason when you saw some of the heavy objects that were getting hurled through the air!) I settled instead for blipping the Kintyre Schools Pipe Band who I featured last September when they played in Carradale.

These links are really just to put today's blip in context. While I was busy getting shots of the band I nearly missed this wee boy who was marching beside them with his toy bagpipes ( well I think they are a toy!). His face was a picture of concentration as he emulated the older children in the band. He made me and many others laugh and just had to be blipped!

The low sun cast lovely long shadows of the spectators, which I rather liked as a background.
