Presence
Out and about again in the capital, altho' a little less stuff than yesterday. Pacing, it's all about the pacing.
Fry-up at nearby (and super-friendly) Nilly's Turkish Cafe to kickstart the day and then into central London for the rather fabulous Francis Bacon exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. Wow.
After a good while in the cafe there with an extremely leisurely coffee it was out for a good wander in the sun through some of London's parks - St. James, Green, Hyde - before the tube to Notting Hill for some teatime cinema. Time for a pint and the start of the Arsenal/Liverpool game first before our attraction at The Gate.
I'd not read anything about new release movie Emilia Perez beforehand and it turned out to be a very different film than what I was expecting. And I think it all hung together if you suspended belief on several occasions and just went with it. Plus there was some real cinematic flair involved, a few scenes being really rather dazzling, kind of brilliant even. It's perhaps not for everyone but I for one (and my partner too) are very glad that we went to see it on the big screen. Decent review of it here but perhaps best going in knowing nowt, don't say I didn't warn you.
Food and drink back near us in Spitalfields. Early-ish night beckons. Pacing remember, pacing.
