Long Shadows
New winter timetable for the Dales Bus Service.
This means catching a bus into Ilkley to get the connecting bus Grassington .
We did this today having an hour in Ilkley twixt buses.
My lucky day as l got two Orla Keily cushion covers from Oxfam, perfect for the chairs in my conservatory.
Got my usual phone call from my brother Don who told me my other brother ( Jack )in Australia was not well at all. He then did his weekly phone call to Australia and found out my brother there is much better so phoned me again to tell me the better news. Then my other brother phoned me from Australia, he sounded bright as a button and is going out on Thursday for a meal with family to celebrate his 94th birthday, honestly our Jack is like Lazarus.
So on the undulating bus ride my emotions were going up and down as much as the hills.
Scenery was gorgeous, lots of russet tones shining in the lovely sunshine.
Grassington was buzzing , luckily we had gone in the new cafe there as soon as we alighted the bus. We both had French Onion Soup with cheese croutons, we shared a Paris Brest and a cafetière of coffee. Yes there is a French chef in the kitchen. Staff have a few teething troubles but their attitude was good so l am sure we will return.
Bus back to Ilkley and we had half an hour before our connecting bus was due so we went into the Ticket Office ( a bar next to the train station) where Ruby works some weekends when she comes home from Manchester. Lovely to see her working there and she made us two Ameretto Sours, oh my word , they were delicious.
Home now and watching Strictly, no spoilers please!
