Pretty Bergen

Slow start and planned to skip breakfast but the buffet was too delicious.  We wandered out bought a few Christmas presents in a lovely shop called Lot 333 before going up the funicular railway to the railway. Glorious view, see extra and as it was raining we stepped into the immaculate restaurant that had a very pleasant bar and had a cup of tea and a rather good alcohol free beer. Back down i the town we wandered before meeting up with Anu and Marty for lunch back in the fish hall.  I had a bowl of seafood soup which was delicious.  We then planned to get a taxi out to the boat but Marty and Anu went on ahead and said there were huge queues and to come on later.  Which we did.

I’ve never been on a cruise ship before so it was all quite novel.  Our cabins have a balcony and are spacious and modern.  The boat, run by Haviila, a Norwegian company is the Pollux and is only a year old.  It is very determinedly sustainable and runs part of its journey electric so it’s very quiet.

Except when we landed somewhere at 3 in the morning and the horn was sounded both on arrival and departure.

It operates as a ferry as well as a cruise so stops 33 times on this journey, sometimes people only going a few towns up the coast.
