A day in Oban
It was soooo hard to get up at 5.15am this morning (in the dark, yikes!) even though we had been early to bed. We were going to take Bertie with us for a day out in Oban so Nick set off from home (in the dark) to give the wee fellow a walk along the road to put himself straight. They had gone quite a distance before I picked them up a little after 6.00am (still in the dark) and Bertie didn’t seem at all phazed by his different morning routine.
The strong gusts of wind meant that it was quite bouncy sailing over to Oban on the small ferry, but at least it sailed when some of the larger ones might not have done.
On arrival in Oban we sought out somewhere for breakfast, disappointed to see that our favourite cafe was closed for a two week holiday. The reason for our day away was to attend optician appointments for us both and an audiology appointment for Nick. Between appointments we fitted in a number of tasks, including a lovely walk for Bertie in Dunollie Woods. (Thanks to fellow Blipper Weeflecky for the information about this walk)
We arrived back home around 8.00pm. A shortage of ferries meant that we were later than we would have liked but we were grateful to get home on the same day. Another early night beckoned.
My blip shows the arch on the North Pier. This is where the ferries to Mull used to berth so is symbolic to me of going home. I attended Oban High School for four years in my youth and during this time, because of ferry times, we could only go home for half term and holidays, not weekends as ferry times allow for now.
