Beach Bar Buckets & Spades, Camber Sands
My brother managed his first tentative run for few days as his really bad back has eased off quite a bit. However, I think mine has come out in sympathy and is now a bit stiff and sore so our run was more of a shuffle and waddle than a jog but it was still good to get up and be active.
After we'd both had a soak we thought, as the weather was looking good, we should head to the coast. We chose Camber Sands as it somewhere not too far away and also because we love it's wide expanse of sandy beach and the huge skies. When we arrived we headed straight to a cafe on the shoreline and had some chips washed down with a nice cold pint of lager. After that it was time for a wander and a chance to capture some images. The main image was taken at the beach bar and shop just along from the cafe. I was so pleased to capture the father and son with their buckets and spades - they looked like they were having a great time - and I liked the other people dotted through the various "frames" in the image itself. The second was taken further along the beach where there are some rather ostentatious (and very expensive looking) houses. I'm presuming most of them are second homes but in between some of the behemoths are areas of greenery and garden and this is where I took the first extra. I liked the repeating shape of the surfboards throughout the image. With the last extra, "Baller On The Beach", I wanted to capture the vastness of the beach, the horizon and the sky but tie it all together with a human element. I'd noticed this boy with a football earlier when he was in a group of other people but the ball was kicked far along the beach and he ran off to retrieve it and I managed to catch him all on his own as he was heading back to his family.
Camber Sands never disappoints on days like this and the light was just wonderful. Breathing in all that sea air and seeing the beauty of it all really revived our spirits and made us forget about our bad backs! We had an ace time!
