Not A Red Squirrel

We've been to see our good friends C&C today at their house on Anglesey. They moved there many years ago but this was the first time we had visited. They looked after us very well, providing us with drinks, lunch and dinner.

After lunch they took us to Plas Newydd House and Garden. When we arrived they bumped into a friend who was a NT volunteer and was about to offer a red squirrel walk. We were the only takers. I didn't realise there are no grey squirrels on Anglesey. I'm not sure there are any red ones either as we didn't see any. We walked through the woods where they can sometimes be spotted, and then on to a hide where feeders had been set up. Apparently one had been seen on the feeders that morning. All we saw was a pheasant. Oh well.

We then had a look around the house. The highlight was a 58 foot fantasy landscape painting by Rex Whistler (first extra). The NT guide was very knowledgeable and informative, explaining all sorts of details that we would have missed otherwise.

Then we drove on to the Menai Bridge (second extra). We walked under it, then over it.

The final extra is a group shot in front of their house. The second time I have used my tripod this week.

Update from last night - we had pizzas, eating in rather than takeaway. Afterwards I tried an affogato, something which has been mentioned by others on here before. The owner took pity on mrsfb and gave her a free cannoli, something else that we had never tried before but which we have read about on here!
