Cool cats

Cat feeding went fine today and I was able to stroke scaredy cat once or twice.  I was going to take a photo of the hens this evening but I left my phone behind, and they were all fed and watered before I remembered.  So instead here is my (well, "my") big blue boy, P, luxuriating on the settee at lunchtime.

A long lunch break was had as planned, but I didn't get around to giving the Africa Twin a wee run.  I spent it hacking away at bits of mortar spalling off the side of the house, cleaning out all the soily crud – probably from generations of woodlice – and pumping it full of new mortar-inna-tube.  Maybe it'll stop them creeping into the house.  The front step also needs done.  It's almost like the concrete they used back then has shrunk over the decades.

I had a good old singalong shriekalong to the Rush album, Hemispheres, this evening in the shower.  It made me think of the Pavement song, Stereo that goes, "What about the voice of Geddy Lee? How did it get so high? I wonder if he speaks like an ordinary guy..."  The funny thing about that album is they recorded a lot of it in A, not E; it was only when they came to do the vocal tracks that Ged realised he'd have to sing most of it at the top end of his head voice range.  Fine perhaps for recording the album but it sure took it out of him that tour!
