Snow bunting

A morning of sorting things out and then I decided to go for a walk.  A quick call to a friend and we both met up and wandered down to the beach.  My friend had seen the snow buntings a few days earlier and I was keen to see them too.  We quickly realised where they are as a few bird watchers and photographers were standing around the edge of the pebble ridge and the estuary.  The birds blend in very well against the pebbles but there was one amongst the vegetation giving us occasional glimpses between the leaves.  A nearby dog caused it to fly across the path and then it settles on the pebbles.  We stayed trying to get some photos.  It then flew back onto the vegetation and another one also came into view.  They are an unusual sighting and I had only seen them once before several years ago on the other side of the Exe estuary.

We then continued our walk along the river estuary spotting various gulls, little egrets, cormorants, curlew and a heron.  My husband had seen an Egyptian goose the other day but we didn't have binoculars with us.  It ended up a longer walk than I had anticipated but it was good to explore further up the river estuary and also to catch up with my friend.

I did a little more weeding on the allotment in the afternoon and then it was Camera club in the evening.
