Good Eating

Another splendid day with glorious weather. We went up to Boulmer and were about to set off walking to the North where we’d been last time we were there on a birding trip, when we spoke to a couple who’d just returned from a walk in the opposite direction and said there were lots of birds. We decided to follow their advice and saw all kinds of birds on the beach including Grey Plover (extras), Ringed Plover, Dunlin and many more including huge numbers of these Sanderlings scurrying up and down, oblivious to people and even dogs sharing the beach with them. The highlight was possibly a fly-by of half a dozen Whooper Swans just above the waves - a fabulous sight.
We then went down to Alnmouth for a late lunch. It was very pleasant by the beach, with lots of people enjoying the Autumn sunshine.
