Battered by the wind

My Nellie Moser Clematis survived being in a pot while we moved, shrugged off a late frost but the nor' wester today broke on of the two stems and battered some of the petals off the only remaining flower.  The stems always look brittle but surprisingly strong.  Maybe the site I have chosen is too windy for it.
