SANDSEND
I did get some sleep last night - interspersed with hacking coughing fits. Those fits seem worse in the afternoons, evening and nights, so we're making the most of the mornings.
I didn't feel too bad this morning and I fancied a visit to the seaside. Although we live by the sea, which I love, we never hear a tide as such so on doing some research we decided we visit a place called Sandsend, It's only about 3 miles from Whitby but is much quieter, especially now with half term.
The idea was to have a drive up through the North Yorkshire Moors to see the stunning landscape and take some photos. However it was very foggy all the from just outside Pickering right until near Sansend.
We got to Sandsend and it was fairly busy, but pleasantly so and it was also bright blue sunny skies. We went for a coffee and then spent a delightful two hours on the beach listening to the waves and tide going out. Walking along the sands doing some scavangeing for sea glass quartz and stones - that type of thing. There was so much, of all sizes, it was fabulous. I could really have done with a bucket to sift through them all, but just had to use my hands as well.
I had great fun, running towards the sea and then running back out again before it wet my feet (even though I was rather puffy)!!!
We then intended to come back and go to Thornton-le-Dale, just outside Pickering. It is the home of a TV showed called Bangers and Cash which both Hubby and Garron like a lot. it's also meant to be very pretty and we could have lunch there before heading back.
However on driving out of Sandsend the fog hadn't lifted at all, in fact it had got much heavier and was right down to Pickinger. So we just parked up at the cottage and went into to town for some lunch and get some food in for tonight.
The collage is -

top right looking over the Whitby Abbey from Sandsend,
Middle left - The road leading down to Sandsend
Middle right x 2 - A sea monster having some fun
Bottom Left - on the moors going to Sandsend
Bottom Right - on the moors returning home - you could hardly see a thing!!!
Now I've started cough again, so am taking it steady. I also have about 300 photos to trawl through, will probably delete most but keep the OK ones.
I'm just having to adjust the holiday to what I can do. This does of course mean I just have to come back - that's a good excuse isn't it!!??
Do take care everyone and stay safe and I will see you all tomorrow.
