Royal Tour 2024

I do like an event, especially on a beautiful spring Sydney day, especially down at the Opera House, so I headed down to see what I could see.

I've photographed several big events here before, and have previously sauntered around taking photos of anything that appealed.
As soon as I arrived at the Quay I saw that this would not be like that.
There was a queue extending from the MCA to the Opera House.
I immediately decided not to join it, a decision I don't regret.
The queue was drip fed into the apron after security checks.

Lots of people had gone to the trouble of dressing up, but I don't have many good photos. The crowd was so great that it was impossible to get a perspective on it.
I ended up standing in Macquarie St.
The Royals flew by and I got a few shots that were passable.

I was concerned that Charles and Camilla might fall on the Opera House steps. (extras)
They looked very pleased to reach the bottom.
I know there's a golden ratio for stairs and I'm pretty sure these don't align with that. I would never walk down them without holding on to the handrail.

The best part of the day was meeting so many nice people.
One, a police officer visiting from Manchester, talked me through the ins and outs of the security arrangements.

Judging by the crowds and the enthusiasm I witnessed, there won't be a republic in my lifetime.
