Everyday I Write The Book

Pellabaphobia

After several weeks in his new home Henry is pretty much socialised and what was a new concept - the cat flap - is now something he traverses dozens of times a day. He is a skinny and lithe cat who can stretch like a superhero, but those big eyes are always alert to danger. Today I scared him by opening an umbrella, but I suppose from his point of view it was something that just got big and black very quickly and was not to be trusted.

The fear of umbrellas is apparently called pellabaphobia and is not confined to cats. Some people can’t bear to stand under one, or shudder in their mere presence. Wet weather must be a torment to them. And they will refuse, ever, to watch "Singing In The Rain" …

TSM cooked a wicked Sunday roast today which was enjoyed by the four of us and The Yoga Mama. I fell asleep in the armchair after lunch as I had spent most of the morning assembling a radiator cover for The Dizzle and Ms R. One of those infernal flat pack jobs with fiddly fixing and incomprehensible instructions. Exhausting. But woke up to enjoy a pleasant couple of hours with Strider who dropped in for coffee and cakes.

On the plus side I felt better tonight than I have done for nearly a fortnight. Maybe the bug has finally buggered off…
