Small pleasures.
The doughnut was in fact big, and being a vegan artisan product not cheap at £3.75. But it was very good and the perfect accompaniment to my excellent coffee, which was made with a mixture of Brazilian red bourbon and Malawian beans; ground in the coffee mill bequeathed to me by my mate Tom (who buggered off to Seattle - birthplace of the evil Starbucks - many years ago) and brewed in the coffee machine that the wonderful TSM bought me for my birthday.
The Woking vegan fair was not huge but we bought a few bits and pieces including, would you believe, a slice of Brussels sprout and tahini quiche. We haven’t eaten it yet. I suspect it will either be lovely or disgusting. I like sprouts and I love tahini but I’ve never paired them before. Watch this space.
We had a very, very chilled day apart from this expedition. No housework to speak of, no DIY, just sitting quietly reading and occasionally talking. I did have to see off a fox who was raiding our bins. The security cameras picked him up so he didn’t really stand a chance.
The Dizzle and Ms R went to an alpaca park in Hampshire as it was a sunny afternoon (in contrast to the morning rain). Apparently alpaca are very cute. Curiously there was a man called Al Packer in the 19th century who was a self confessed cannibal. He doesn’t sound very cute but they did make a musical about him a few years ago.
We had an invite to go and see a Steely Dan tribute in our local church tonight, but we declined. Steely Dan are one of my all time favourite bands so I don’t think I could cope with a tribute act. Plus I am very tired after yesterday’s cocktail shenanigans.
Good day. Restful.
