Impressionist canal
Yesterday's blip as I had such a day!
It was a lovely morning and F rang to see if I wanted to go for a walk. Of course I did! We went for a walk along the canal which was looking beautiful in the sun as in my blip (which might become a painting in the near future).
There fields had big pools of floodwater and so were patches of road (extra). There were some lovely leaf colours on the trees and good to see a few dragonflies and a small white butterfly. I also liked the seedpod amongst the reeds.
I had a gig last night and at lunchtime we had a message from our caller - he had fallen down steps and hurt his back so couldn't be with us. We spent all afternoon contacting callers that we knew and everyone either had a gig or was busy. Eventually I contacted someone who could do it. He was at his daughters a long way away and couldn't go home but agreed to do it. Luckily he had lots of dances in his head that he was able to use.
The gig was in Tarporley, a 50th wedding anniversary. Quite a tricky journey with flooded roads and a road closure. It was a lovely do, the last minute caller turned up and did well. One of the happy couple used to be a morris dancer and in the interval, three of the original band - all concertina players plus him on the drum, entertained us. They were absolutely brilliant, playing a medley of English, Irish and American tunes with a huge amount of vigour. Great entertainment! (Extra).
