The long journey
We left home at 5.30am this morning and arrived at our destination in the Swiss Alps at about 8.00pm (after having had short stops for meals along the way). It was a long and tiring journey, especially for Gavin who drove the whole way.
Driving through France we passed many beautiful scenes that I wished to photograph - fields of bright sunflowers, wind turbines all in a row forming lovely patterns, patchwork fields of different colours surrounding pretty little French villages - but there is no where to stop once you are whizzing along on the national motorways.
As we approached our destination driving up the Prattigau Valley, there were road works with a one way traffic system in place. As we stopped I took the opportunity to leap out the car to take this lovely view of the valley in the evening light, with the railway line winding up the valley.
We quickly unpacked and now it's off to bed...but not before we checked the news and heard the exciting news that Kate and Will have had a son - what glorious news and congratulations to the lovely couple.
