Toujours Tuscany

We oft times stop here for a sandwich and coffee from the flask. On the edge of the Valdichiana near Lucignano. A sweet parcel of country between Arezzo and Sienna.

How sweet and melancholy to be by the sea as the long season is rolled up and the hotels and campsites and beach concessions are mothballed until Easter. It was warm and very humid, hobby hawks and marsh harriers around, flamingoes on the salt pans and what sounded like mistle thrushes mixing with the last southbound swallows.

As if by some magic we coincided with Luigi again who tomorrow brings G home from recuperation on lake Garda. They’ve had a terrible year. It was nice to spend some time with him. The vagaries … eh? Each year they come closer.
