Coincidence

I suggested to mum a couple of days ago that we should make a batch of apple chutney as she had enjoyed a dollop of shop bought with her pork pie, & I have plenty of apples. Today stuck at Mum's while the builder installed an exterior light fitting, I came across a big fat Good Housekeeping cookery book."i wonder if we could find an apple chutney recipe in this book Mum". Well, blow me, inside the front cover were a few torn out magazine recipes, plus these 2. The apple chutney recipe written in Grandma's hand on the reverse of an Anchor Inn Christmas draw ticket. The pub that my parents ran for 30 years. The other recipe written on the reverse of yet another raffle ticket. Mum was a committee member of the local Auxiliary. Now we have to use this recipe for the chutney. The stuffing recipe maybe later.
The builder & his mate were at Mum's for 6 hours. 6 hours! I dread to think how much the bill is going to be for a job that I'm sure should'nt take as long.
I had to cancel an appointment at short notice. I had to stay with Mum while the work was being done obviously. Once they left I made Mum's meal.
What a day!
