Horseshoe Falls

The culmination of my almost 2-week break was a Photo Workshop located around the waterfalls of the Vale of Neath in South Wales, led by Sarah Howard of Image Seen. Sarah and her assistant Tim offered advice throughout the day and encouraged us to concentrate on composition and varying camera settings to achieve different effects.

We started walking up the River Neath from Pontneddfechan visiting three of the main falls. After a quick coffee break back down in the village we moved onto Merlincourt Falls for our fourth and a final waterfall of the day. This was the second one we visited, the Horseshoe Falls, or Sgwd y Bedol. I really liked the effect of the longish exposure and the backlighting.

It was a great day, but I am now shattered having walked nearly 5 miles in, for me, challenging terrain, not to mention the light rain which accompanied us most of the day!
