Joseph Browning – 'He was a good man'

We returned to the churchyard where Camilla and I explored a few days ago, as I wanted to check out some of the scenes that she wanted me to photograph in future. I hope to be recording extensive exterior views and selected internal details for fund-raising purposes.

She pointed out this metal plaque lying on the surface. It is one of hundreds of quite ancient grave markers that have been installed, which were mounted on the stone walls of the church when it was rebuilt in early Victorian times.

I liked the wording:
Sacred to the memory
of JOSEPH BROWNING
who departed this life
June 8th 1845
Aged 61 years.
'He was a good man'
ACTS  11:24
