We're in for sunshine
on this Thanksgiving Day, but
cool days are coming...

I woke up late with a text to tell me to book my covid shot. I did and appreciated the wake-up call.

I was on my way to Tranquille at 10:30 mindful of the holiday and the bright sun. I thought somewhere quiet would suit me best.

I drove up to the first landing on the Red Lake Road where I can get a look over to Kamloops Lake and the delta. I was just here with my brother on the 1st of the month, but it was a grey overcast morning then. I was hoping for better today.

I got my panorama of the lake and the river delta, then I heard the train approaching. I zoomed in on its movements to the cut in Battle Bluff. I could see it between the hills below as it approached the tunnel. Then, I drove back down the dusty, washboardy, gravel road to the bottom of the hill to see its tail disappearing into the old tunnel. It was an extraordinarily long freight or I would not have made it down in time. (I'm told I drive like "an old lady".)

I have chicken in the crockpot so we may have something of a Thanksgiving dinner when my daughter returns today. I'm back at the sorting and packing. I'll have my feet up whenever I can.
