More swell
It wasn't entirely clear, as we arrived at the beach this morning, what the sea would be like. There has been quite a lot of swell all week. In fact, it was not too bad. Enough to keep you honest, but not so much as to bowl you off your feet. Once out beyond the breakers, it was possible to swim quite easily, as we did in fact, more or less up to the green door and back. Although the air temperature (around 5 degrees was cold) and the water slightly warmer (around 10-11 degrees), in fact once out the sunlit air felt pleasantly warm on the skin. I didn't get cold at all after the swim.
It was a full car (L, A and then P from Arabella onwards) to and from the beach. And quite a few others were there. Plus the naked swimmer went in after us (don't ask....). He was at least wearing a hat, which he then took off and used to give an air of modesty to his appearance as he emerged from the water after his quick dip. So a sociable morning, all around.
Back here, aside from relaxation, there were a few garden chores to do. Sweep the slabs at the front. Clear off the resulting rubbish. Plant some random narcissi bulbs I had brought up from Edinburgh (into the side garden; who knows whether they will grow again). Supper was a scratch one, largely based on Friday's meal (meat balls in tomato sauce with couscous). We finished off two bottles of white wine that had been opened on Friday and Saturday night and not quite finished. I'm relaxing now reading a book and thinking about how long it will be before I can get up here again, and how much I am going to miss it.
