Sulphur Tuft ( Hypholoma fasciculare )
I had intended to take a shot of this a few days ago but trivia such as the best display of the Aurora borealis I have ever seen got in the way. Sadly they are now past their best. The shot is also a bit ropey as I am still trying to decide on which glasses and/or which eye is best until I have had both eyes dealt with and got new glasses.
Sulphur Tuft are a common fungi, one of the commonest reported. A number of years ago we had a conifer that had got too large for its position and so we had to remove it. There is still a stump and these have appeared on it. It is a poisonous fungus often appearing as in this case in largish clumps. When young they are, as the name suggests yellow, darkening as they age.
