I’ve always thought it would be so cool to walk into a food/drink establishment and have the proprietor look at me, smile and say “the usual?”
It finally happened today! With my arm smarting from a recently administered flu jab, I decided to extend my research into the medicinal effects of hot chocolate and to see what impact it would have upon devastating physical injury. My arm felt like it was on the point of detachment from my body, but not being one to make a fuss or over-exaggerate, I marched into Kakaw (hot choc place) and exchanged “good mornings” with the barista, and before I could get my order out, she smiled at me and uttered the magic words: “the usual?”
Five minutes later when the tears of happiness and acceptance had ceased cascading from my wrinkled eyes, I said “yes, please” - my arm was in serious risk of gangrene now.
You know what? It worked! I drained the cup and the restorative powers of a Fairfield 45% Regular saw the pain away and had my arm back to normal in no time! I was feeling so good that I was compelled to put up a bear short.
The rest of the day flew by on gilded wings and then family and friends started showing up to help celebrate m’boy’s 12th birthday. He was delighted and grateful for all his presents, but we didn’t see him too much as he disappeared off to play his new video game. The rest of us had a lovely time sitting around eating too much, chatting and laughing. A really lovely way to start the weekend.
Maybe this should become the new “usual”?!
